Registration of foreign order

Family law (Ontario) legislation.  A foreign (i.e., made outside Ontario) order of custody or access in relation to a child who resides in Ontario is not automatically enforceable in Ontario, but requires court approval or registration.  Registration is a process undertaken by the applicant parent who wishes to have the order recognized in Ontario.  The rules which apply are different from those which govern initial (or original) applications for custody but are, still, tied to the child’s welfare and best interests.
